Improve the Learning Experience

Electricity and electronics involve the invisible motion of electrons within electrical circuits. Models and mathematics are used to describe the events taking place within electrical circuits. This often makes learning electricity difficult for beginning students. Mathematical models seem obscure to some students particularly those who have little experience in learning abstract concepts. DC Circuits Challenge is designed to add another mode of learning to the usual textbook, lecture and laboratory learning experiences. This program adds interactivity and immediate feedback to help give meaning to abstract concepts and processes.

Improve Retention

Interactive computer based activities capture and hold students interest by requiring action. We retain 5% of what we HEAR in a lecture, 10% of what we READ and 75% of what we PRACTICE by DOING. DC Circuits Challenge helps students retain concepts by requiring student action, practice by doing. In addition, the program scores and corrects each student's work immediately. Errors are pointed out before the student has practiced and learned an incorrect process. Students know immediately when processes and procedures have been applied correctly. They can then move to the next topic with confidence.
