1) Transformers:
In electronics and communication systems, transformers are often used as coupling devices for step-up voltage there by contributing to the overall voltage gain in amplifiers, impedance transformers and to keep secondary out while opening a path for DC currents on primary. This kind of transformers used for variable speed motors, or audio transformer, which operates at 20-20KHz.
2) Losses
Depending on the frequency range we have to take care of eddy current losses, core losses and skin effect. Since we will use small cores we can ignore core losses.
When we increase frequency we have to deal with also the skin effect. This means when we use high frequencies most of the conducting material used for core will be useless. This can be eliminated by use of ferrites. Increase of frequency affects the eddy current losses. However again the ferrites with their high resistivity and proper lamination help us.
3) Frequency, Phase and magnitude
i) Intermediate frequencies
During the normal operation of transformers at mid range we neglect magnetizing branch also the leakage inductances can be neglected.
Here is the schematic.
